DIY Teacup 'n' Saucer Lamp
Well, I cannot take complete credit for this one. My husband Casey and I brainstormed this idea together and he did most of the "doing" while I "supervisied". lol. We had seen a lamp similar to this in an upscale home decor store. Of course it was way overpriced, so we decided that we could make our own for a fraction of the cost.
Supplies needed:
4 dollar store teacups
5 dollar store saucers
Threaded rod cut to approx. 16 inches give or take depending on the height of your cups. These are found in the lamp section at your local hardware store.
Lamp wiring kit that matches the type of shade you would like to use
1/2" Tile drill bit and drill
Rotary tool
Cork or felt for bottom of lamp
Lamp shade of your choice
I apologize ahead of time for the lack of photos!
Drill holes through the centers of cups and saucers (this may take some time!)
Thread cut rod through first saucer (this will be the base!) followed by a cup and then another saucer. Continue to thread all pieces onto the rod, ending with a saucer. Secure nuts and washers from lamp kit onto each end of threaded rod to secure cups and saucers.
Screw on lamp socket and then thread the lamp cord up through the rod and socket. Then, attach the wires to the socket as per instructions in your lamp kit.
Use rotary tool to notch groove into bottom saucer to make room for cord to exit the lamp. Glue on felt or cork to cover up bottom.
Attach lamp shade of you choice. Voila!!! You now have a teacup lamp!
This lamp was made for Pearl's room. Poor Betty. I have been on such a roll of "Pearl projects". I really need to pick a "Betty project" next.
Wow, this has been a late night! Time for bed. The kiddies are going to be getting up before we know it.
